As stated in prior communications, we have experienced an extensive congestion in moving freight into the Atlanta market. In an effort to increase our capacity and address this backlog, we have secured another facility in the Atlanta market that will exclusively handle export business. We have already successfully moved all export business out of our Forest Park facility and are now working towards addressing the backlog of import containers. However, due to the heavy congestion of containers that have accumulated in the Atlanta market, it will take time to clear out the containers and return to a consistent flow of imports.
In order for us to move as quickly and efficiently as possible, we need your cooperation. To that end, we need customers to pick up their shipments as soon as possible once made available. Customers can also choose to route current Atlanta destined freight (that has not departed origin CFS locations) to either Charleston, Charlotte or direct to final destination as we continue to work through this congestion.
Please understand that we will continue to experience considerable delays into the Atlanta market until we can get the backlogged containers cleared out.
We will provide further updates on the Atlanta market later this week. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please reach out to your local STG account manager.
