The situation in New Jersey has become critical in regards to the backlog of containers available at the piers. Increasing terminal congestion as a result of surging and exceptional import volumes, chassis shortages, other capacity constraints, all combined with lack of available appointments and free time have created demurrage and per diems costs that continue to rise daily at an unprecedented pace.

Although STG Logistics has recently announced an increase in our NJ pier congestion fee and a new IPI congestion fee in New Jersey with an effective date of November 22nd, these fees will not cover the exorbitant amount of demurrage and per diems that we are now experiencing.

To that end, effective November 1st, we will be implementing an Emergency Window Fee of $75.00 on all New Jersey ending house bills.
This Emergency Window Fee will remain in place through the end of 2021 with a commitment to revisit the appropriateness of such fee during the first quarter of 2022.
